Just returned from helping to teach at the 'David Foster Summer School' in Stone, Staffordshire.
The school was held this year at St Dominic's convent, known for its links with Blessed Dominic Barberi and Bishop William Ullathorne.
The history of science - which I taught - is an area ripe for research and the clearing of myths so numerous they could populate a small forest. At the head of the list is the old old canard that Galileo was opposed by the Church because he was, wait for it.....a scientist. And we all know from so many spin-merchants that the Church was, is and always will be hostile to Science. Don't we???
